Winter CSA + BK Foodie Book Club

Ok so I signed up for my winter CSA today, in case you are looking for one to join. My current CSA comes from Garden Of Eve farm, but it is handled by Greenpoint-Williamsburg CSA. For the winter share, I had to sign up directly through the farm. I found the sign-up process a little confusing, so I called to see how I could get a full vegetable share, plus apples, eggs and the “shopping basket” items – pickled food, honey, flour, cereal, etc. and surprisingly, getting all 4 shares is not an option. Weird. So I called Lynn and Diego, whom I currently share the Summer CSA with, and we agreed to split 2 shares. The first is the vegan veggie share, so we can get the apples and bonus veggies, and then also the shopping basket share, which is even more veggies, plus eggs and locavore goods. So, it will be a surprise to see whether or not I am drowning in root vegetables come December. : )

So last year i joined the Brooklyn Kitchen Foodie Book Club and it has been very hit or miss, but it is 3 blocks from my house, and I love the concept. They have released the info for the next book (The Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard C. Morais) and I would love for some of you to come with me! Basically you read the book and cook a dish or make a drink inspired by it and we all have a potluck and talk about said book. Food. Booze. Nuff said. See you there????
